22 Week Bumpdate!!

How far along:  22 weeks!

Baby is the size of a(n):  eggplant

Total weight gain/loss:  + 7.3 lbs

Maternity clothes:  No change since last week.  Still wearing my flowy tops and dresses, with the addition of maternity jeans :)

Sleep:  I am starting to wake up in the middle of the night with lower back aches.  I am so used to sleeping on my back and stomach, that side-sleeping all night every night is becoming uncomfortable…even with the body pillow.

Best moment this week:  I had an ultrasound earlier in the week and Gracie was kicking up a storm!  She has long legs already, definitely not from me, and she was dancing away in my tummy.  It was incredible because as I would feel her kick, I would be able to see it simultaneously on the screen.  Now I definitely know what her movements feel like.  She was also being a tad camera shy and had her hands clasped together over her face.  Silly girl.

Baby Movement:  Feeling lots and lots of movement!  This girl is going to be a runner or a dancer or something!  She is already one active little lady.

Cravings:  Fruit.  Lots of fruit.

Missing anything:  Vodka tonic!  Obviously this is not a craving I will indulge.  The weather has been so lovely this week {mid 70s and 80s}, like summer, and it just screamed vodka tonic weather.

Pregnancy symptoms:  Constant trips to the bathroom and lower back aches.

Showing yet:  My belly is quite rotund!

Labor signs:  Nope.

Belly button in or out:  It’s now an outtie!!

Wedding rings on or off:  On!

Looking forward to:  Our week vacation at my Aunt’s house in Montana!!

21 Week Bumpdate!

Happy Valentine's Day!
How far along:  21 weeks!

Baby is the size of a(n):  carrot!

Total weight gain/loss:  +  6.2lbs

Maternity clothes:  Still wearing my flowy tops and dresses, with the addition of maternity jeans :)

Sleep:  Still having wildly strange and vivid dreams when I do sleep, but I am now finding it more difficult to get comfortable in the middle of the night.  I’m now waking up every morning at 4am very uncomfortable, and I just toss and turn.  I miss sleeping on my back and on my tummy.  I also am getting very congested in the middle of the night, which is no fun.

Best moment this week:  Feeling her kick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baby Movement:  She is moving so much, and she is getting stronger!  Her movements are much more pronounced, and I can definitely tell she's wiggling around in there.

Cravings:  KFC.

Missing anything:  Running.

Pregnancy symptoms:  Peeing all the time!  Also low back soreness and stuffy nose (yes, this is one of those weird symptoms).

Showing yet:  Yep!  Gracie is getting big and so is my belly!  I officially can’t see my toes unless I lean forward to look!

Labor signs:  Nope.

Belly button in or out:  It’s now an outtie!!

Wedding rings on or off:  On!

Looking forward to:  Baby kicks and our Montana getaway!

20 Week Bumpdate ~ Half Way There!!!

How far along:  20 weeks!  HALF WAY THERE!!!!

Baby is the size of a(n):  banana (in length), and weighs 11 ounces!

Total weight gain/loss:  + 3.6 lbs

Maternity clothes:  Still wearing my flowy tops and dresses, with the addition of maternity jeans :)

Sleep:  I finally figured out how to sleep comfortably with the Snoogle.  For me, it’s much better against my back than my stomach.  I’m now sleeping well, but still having very vivid and bizarre dreams.

Best moment this week:  Our 20 week anatomy scan!!  Sean and I went together and it was incredible!  They measured her head, her brain, her heart, her body, her arms, her legs, her hands, her feet, her spine, the alignment of her vertebrae, her bladder, and more, and everything is perfect!  She is growing right on schedule for her 6/26 due date, and she is currently weighing in at 11oz!  They also turned on the color that shows blood flow, and we saw the blood flow in the umbilical cord and her heart.  All her organs are functioning perfectly as they should.  And the final results for down syndrome, spina bifida, and other chromosomal diseases came back completely negative (which is what we anticipated with all the prior screenings).  We are very happy parents!!  Oh, and our sweet little angel was sleeping like her mommy with her hand behind her head and using her elbow as a pillow!!  Like mother like daughter :)  Here is a 3D picture our doctor took of our little miracle (the circle to the left of her face looking at the picture is her elbow):
I can't wait to kiss this sweet face <3
We also started our birthing class.  We are doing the Bradley Method, which we chose because it focuses several things that are important to us:  an all-natural birth without medication (which I DO NOT want, plus I can’t have an epidural even if I wanted one in the heat of the moment); relaxation techniques including music therapy, massage, and positioning; and the critical role of the husband as a main participant in the birth.  Sean will be “coaching” me with relaxation methods we learn together to ensure I am as calm and relaxed as possible throughout the entire labor and birth.  Additionally, my mother-in-law is a music therapist and a doula, and she is my doula!!  I am so excited because she is such a wonderful woman, and an incredibly talented music therapist.  She is very familiar with the Bradley Method and with her expertise on top of Bradley, I feel confident and comfortable, and quite frankly EXCITED to labor and give birth.  Bring it on!!!

Baby Movement:  Flutters!!  More and more flutters in my belly!  Because I have an anterior placenta (placenta on the front side), it creates a pillow effect, which means she has another layer to kick through.  So it may take me a week or two longer to feel the stronger movements than on average.

Cravings:  Ice water (which I usually never drink; I prefer room temp) and apples!

Missing anything:  It’s not pregnancy related, but laying out at the beach.  The weather has been so nice, and if it persists, I will need to do this soon :)

Pregnancy symptoms:  Peeing what seems like every 10 minutes!

Showing yet:  Yes!!  Baby Gracie had a growth spurt this week and is making mommy’s belly pop!!

Labor signs:  Nope.

Belly button in or out:  It’s now an outtie!!

Wedding rings on or off:  On!

Looking forward to:  Feeling her movements more pronounced.

19 Week Bumpdate!

How far along:  19 weeks!

Baby is the size of a(n):  Mango or grapefuit!  She’s growing!!

Total weight gain/loss:  + 2.8lbs

Maternity clothes:  No update from last week here.

Sleep:  Sleep is good, but I’m having weird dreams, like REALLY weird.  My dreams include a combination of superpowers, witchcraft, being late to work, not turning in an art project while on the beach {what the heck?}, scenes from novels that I’m a part of, and pre-term labor.  They are very bizarre.

Best moment this week:  Feeling more flutter movement from my daughter!!!  Oh, and I got a prenatal massage which was heavenly!!!

Baby Movement:  Flutters!!  More and more flutters in my belly!

Cravings:  Current craving as I’m writing this is an egg bagel, toasted with cream cheese and lox.

Missing anything:  Nope.

Pregnancy symptoms:  Slight lower back pain {although the massage helped that a lot} frequent bathroom trips, and more difficulty bending over.  This morning I put on these super cute gray suede and leather pumps, and I had a heck of a time clasping the ankle strap.

Showing yet:  Definitely <3

Labor signs:  Nope.

Belly button in or out:  It’s popping out!

Wedding rings on or off:  On!

Looking forward to:  Our 20 week anatomy scan next week!  We can’t wait to see our little girl in full detail!!  We also start our birthing classes this weekend!!  We are doing the Bradley Method, which is all natural and focuses on relaxation.  I love that the husband takes such an active role in the birth process with the Bradley Method :)  We are so excited!
